Kent's background includes over 30 years' experience in selling, leasing and financing of commercial real estate. He has been involved in office brokerage since 1982 and was one of the founders of Palmer McAllister Co. in 1989. In 2003, Kent restructured the company as Sierra Commercial Real Estate, Inc., which is now the largest, full-service commercial brokerage company in Southern Colorado.  For two decades Kent has been the leading office broker in the community and has been credited with writing the largest lease and sale transactions in El Paso County's history.

Before relocating to Colorado Springs in 1987, Kent was with Towle Real Estate Co. in Minneapolis/St. Paul, which was the leading independently-owned commercial real estate company in the State of Minnesota.  Prior to his experience with Towle Real Estate Co. Kent was employed by Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. in New York City where he successfully completed this organization's management training program and subsequently arranged and built a significant leveraged buyout portfolio.
